Apple Orchard Printable Activities for Ages 3 to 7

September is orchard season. Apple picking trips, cider donuts, and kids who want to talk about nothing but fruit for a week. You can ride that energy at home with printable orchard activities that do not require a trip to the farm or a cart full of craft supplies.

Printurday’s September pack is orchard themed. Here are ways to use apple-focused pages with kids ages 3 to 7, plus how they fit a simple Saturday routine.

Why orchard themes work for preschoolers

Apples are concrete. Kids can see them, count them, and cut paper versions without abstract explanations. Orchard themes also bridge ages: a 3 year old colors a big apple shape while a 6 year old counts rows or traces Letter A on the same theme.

That is why September packs lean into orchards: color pages with trees and baskets, counting sheets with apples to group, and Letter A trace pages that tie alphabet work to the month’s story.

If you are new to Printurday’s weekly structure, start with our pillar post on The Saturday Printable Routine for Ages 3 to 7. It explains the parent card, Saturday sitting, and how weekday pages work.

Orchard color pages

Color pages are the easiest entry point. Print on US Letter paper. Crayons, markers, or colored pencils all work. Grayscale printing is fine if you are out of color ink.

For ages 3 to 4: Focus on filling big shapes. Name colors out loud if you want. Keep it low pressure.

For ages 5 to 7: Ask them to add details: grass under the tree, a sun in the corner, extra apples in the basket. Same page, different depth.

Hang finished pages on the fridge or send one to a grandparent. Physical output beats another hour of passive screen time.

Apple counting activities

Counting rows and grouping objects build early math without a workbook tone. In the September pack, apple counting pages use pictures kids can touch and point to before they write numbers.

Sit beside them for the first round. Count together. Let them retry on their own. If they miscount, correct gently and move on. The goal is familiarity, not perfection.

These pages live in both age lanes. Little lane uses smaller numbers and simpler layouts. Big lane stretches toward teens and simple addition setups. One PDF, two kids, same theme.

Letter A week at home

September includes Letter A trace and write pages tied to the orchard theme. Apple, ant, acorn: the letter shows up in words kids can say out loud.

Tracing builds fine motor control. It also gives you a quiet table activity when you need fifteen minutes to unload the dishwasher. For more on running a letter focus week without a full curriculum, read Letter A Week at Home.

Cut and paste orchard fun

Cut pages in the pack use thick lines for safer scissor work. Kids cut out apples, leaves, or basket pieces and glue them to a background page or a blank sheet.

Tip: Use a tray or rimmed baking sheet so cut pieces do not roll off the table. Keep a glue stick cap nearby. Mess is part of the process.

Cutting and gluing train hand strength the same way tracing does, but with a different kind of focus. Some kids who resist writing will happily cut for ten minutes straight.

Games you can play at the table

Each Saturday sitting includes one short game: matching, a simple board path, or an I-spy style sheet. Orchard games reuse the same visuals from color and cut pages so the week feels connected, not random.

Play once with your child so they learn the rules. Then let them teach a sibling or replay solo while you refill your coffee.

Tie it to a real orchard trip (optional)

If you do visit an orchard, bring one printed page in your bag. After picking, compare real apples to the paper ones. Which is bigger? How many did we pick? What letter does apple start with?

You do not need the trip for the printables to work. But the connection makes both more memorable.

What is in the full September pack

The orchard theme runs across 52 pages in the September Printurday pack: Saturday sittings, weekday color and cut sheets, letters and numbers, mazes, crafts, and an outdoor or kitchen card. Two age lanes (3 to 4 and 5 to 7) share one PDF.
